The Story of Me

One of my least favorite things to write about is myself.  Artist bios, college essays, cover letters are the bane of my professional existence.  I know that I have to fill you in on some of the details, but I’ll try not to bore you.

I could start with, “I started drawing the minute I could pick up a crayon…”, but somehow always feels fake and a little cliché.  To be honest, yes I loved drawing as a kid, but was more likely to be tracing the final product in a How to Draw book, than to follow along with the directions.  Curiously, I hated coloring, and subsequently never won any coloring contests in my grammar school days.  I did, however, sweep when it came to the drawing contests.  It was sweet victory when I followed in my four older siblings’ footsteps to win the Halloween window painting contest in the small town in Maine where I grew up.  Due to my Catholic school education and a limited school budget, I never really had art classes in school until I was a junior in high school.  I supplemented with classes outside of school in the summers, and subsequently went to art school when I graduated.  With four years of a great education at MICA under my belt, I fell in love with a naval aviator.  We married and have lived in Ohio, Florida and Virginia in the past six years since school. I love to cook, work in the garden, exercise, renovate our 1950s house, and have lazy Saturdays with my husband and my dog, Teddy.

A little curious tidbit of trivia about me is that I’m a group fitness certified instructor.  I teach indoor cycling and water fitness and love it!  It’s a great way to get out into the community and find inspiration from the people around me.  Please enjoy my blog entries, and feel free to send me a note to say hello!

Sincerely,
